polyester carpet reviews::Our main concern is the stain in the family room carpet.
We have 2 kids who already ruined our 8 yr.
Which is a better carpet?
Also, what thickness padding do you recommend?
Thank you so much for your help.
Answer hi jen, i understand you want to have a carpet that resists stains and cleans easily.
The problem is, carpets made with polyester will mat down long before the stain warranty will run out.
So you end up with a matted down carpet without stains.
Nylon on the other hand, is very stain resistant too and resists matting and crushing better than any other fiber.
Nylon costs more but lasts much longer.
You said your children ruined your 8 year old berber, well most berbers are made of olefin and that fiber is notorious for being hard to clean, and it atracts dirt like a magnet.
As soon as you get it cleaned the dingy appearance starts to reappear.
In addition, berbers are notorious for matting down.
The larger loops quickly fall over and never get back up.
As far as padding goes, 6pound density rebond is standard residential grade pad, but an 8pound is a better choice if you want your carpet to last longer.
Check out a nylon frieze style carpet, it wears like iron!
I have a ton of free carpet info on my website at www.
